Calcutta/Imphal, June 4: Seventy-two hours after a 55-year-old executive of the National Building Construction Company (NBCC) landed at Calcutta airport from Imphal, neither his relatives here nor the police have any clue about his whereabouts.
Hailing from Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, Inderjit Vijh, deputy project manager of NBCC, had reached the city around 6.30 pm on June 1 and has been missing since then.
A missing diary has been lodged with the airport police and the North 24-Parganas police have launched a hunt.
Vijh had left his Imphal residence in the afternoon of June 1 with his friend Ravinder Singh, who accompanied Vijh to the airport and left after the latter went through security check. Vijh was handed boarding pass number 5-D for Indian Airlines flight IC-7128, scheduled to reach Calcutta at 6.10 pm.
None of Vijh?s acquaintances who came to receive him could spot him at the airport. ?After waiting for over an hour-and-a-half, we started looking for him at various places but could not find him,? said Sukanta Dutta, who went to receive Vijh at the airport.
Subsequently, Vijh?s friends and even the NBCC?s deputy general manager in Imphal S.K. Mital were informed. They in turn called up his Bilaspur residence only to be told by his wife Sashi that he was yet to be traced.
