Asomiya Pratidin lift trophy

Guwahati, Nov. 26: Asomiya Pratidin emerged champions in the Raishmodi Nunisa cricket sixes championship of the fifth North East Media Sports Festival defeating Prag Channel by 15 runs in the final at Judges Field here today.

Asomiya Pratidin put up a total of 86 runs in their stipulated five overs. Former Ranji player Tauhid Ali Talukdar rose to the occasion with a knock of 42 runs.

In reply, Prag Channel could only manage 71 runs with Mriganka Sarma topscoring for them with 23 runs.

Earlier, in the first semi-final, Asomiya Pratidin got the better of The Assam Tribune by five wickets. The Assam Tribune posted 75 runs for the loss of three wickets in their stipulated five overs while Asomiya Pratidin eased past the target without losing any wicket.

In the second semi-final, Prag Channel beat DY365 by two wickets to seal their place in the final.

DY365 put up 72 runs for the loss of one wicket in their regular overs while Prag Channel got past the target losing three wickets.

Diganta Saharia of Janasadharan emerged champion in the fifth North East Media Chess of the same festival. Imtiaz Ahmed of The Telegraph was the runner-up. Saharia ensured the top spot with 4.5 points while Ahmed got four points.

Debasish Sinha of The Assam Tribune Group and Pradip Yein of NE TV shared 3.5 points each for the third and fourth positions respectively on the basis of their tiebreak scores.
