1368 lockdown violators held in Tripura

During the one-month lockdown period from March 24 to April 24, Tripura police have arrested 1,368 people and more than Rs 20 lakh fine was imposed for violating the lockdown rules .

Additional inspector-general of law and order, Subrata Chakraborty, told this correspondent that the government has given some relaxation since Tripura is corona-free. But people here are not maintaining the lockdown rules properly.

“Till April 24 we have arrested 1,368 persons across the state for violating the lockdown norms. We have registered 29 FIRs in various police stations in the state and fine of more than Rs 20.62 lakh were imposed on vehicles. Around 121 vehicles were seized and we have decided that we will release these vehicles after the lockdown,” Chakraborty said.

Tripura had reported two Covid-19 patients.

The health department has released both of them after their test reports came negative and put them under 14-day quarantine.
