With 13 new cases of Covid-19 detected in Dhanbad, the district administration is developing 11 new containment zones out of which the process for declaring five of them has already been completed.

These five zones are located at Hirapur, Gosaindih, Lodna, Azadnagar Bhuli and Dumarkunda.

Talking to The Telegraph, Raj Maheshwaram, the sub divisional officer of Dhanbad, said, “Altogether 11 containment zones will be developed in the district and mapping and other formalities for the declaration of five containment zones have already been completed. We are in the process of completing formalities for other areas”

Notably, the highest ever spike of 13 cases was recorded yesterday late night in the district. All the infected persons had returned from different places. They were shifted from the quarantine center to Dhanbad’s Covid hospital late last night after their swab tests yielded positive results. One of the patients is undergoing treatment at RIMS, Ranchi.

Even with the recent influx in the cases, the district has some good news to offer. Six persons, undergoing treatment at the Covid-19 hospital, were released today in presence of senior officials of the district administration and the health department, including Dhanbad deputy commissioner Amit Kumar and civil surgeon Gopal Das.

Meanwhile, with the latest spike of 13 new cases, the total number of infected patients has increased to 30. Out of this, 20 are active cases, while 10 others have already been released after testing negative, including six released today.

On the spike, Kumar said, “Out of 13 new cases detected yesterday, five cases were from Dhanbad block while three were detected from Baliapur. One case each has been detected from Baghmara, Topchanchi, Tundi and Baghmara. One person of Purulia district of Bengal presently living in Dhanbad has also been found Covid 19 positive.”

“The majority of the newly-detected cases are those who arrived here from the other parts of the country through trains. Others arrived using the road transport system” said Maheshwaram, pointing out that two cases of infection, of a father and his son, are from the same home of Hirapur Hatia.
