Muslim Institute today booked a berth in next year's Calcutta League first division group B competition following a 1-0 win over Kalighat MS in the second division championship play-off semi-final.
It was a Swapan Sarkar golden goal which ensured Muslim Institute promotion to first division. Anushilani, who have already earned promotion, will challenge Muslim Institute for the second division crown.
In a Super Division relegation leg match today, FCI beat BNR via a 50th-minute Surajit Chakraborty goal. FCI now have six points from three games, with a match in hand. BNR have a solitary point with two matches to play.
Floodlit tennis
Karan Dhillon and Farid Alam came thro-ugh three-setters this evening to reach the boys' under-14 final of the Saturday Club floodlit tennis meet. Karina Ahuja qualified for the girls' under-14 final with a straight-set win.

University meets
Calcutta University played out a goalless draw with Rabindra Bharati in an East Zone inter-university football meet match today. In another match, Burdwan dismissed B.R. Ambedkar (Bihar) 3-0, courtesy goals from Amarjit Singh, Subhranil Datta and Surajit Ghosh. In table tennis competition last evening, Calcutta beat Ravishankar 3-0 to lift the men's title. North Bengal bagged the women's crown following a 3-2 verdict over Calcutta.

Bihar beat MTNL Mumbai 4-0 in the all-India BS-NL football meet at SAI.

Railway kabaddi
Northern and Central emerged men's and women's champions in the all-India railway kabaddi championships in Dhanbad today. According to an Eastern Railway press release, ICF (Perambur) finished runners-up among the men and Western Railway among women.
Corporate golf
R.K. Pachnanda won the overall individual title in the Standard Chartered group corporate invitation golf meet held at Tollygunge Club today. He topped a field of 99 with a score of 43 stableford points. K.K. Todi was second and Suyas Borar third. K.J. Singh won the ladies' title with a score of 36. The overall scratch prize for the best golfer today was won by Vikram Singh (32 points).
