EB camp from Sunday

Calcutta: In preparation to take on Geylang United of Singapore in the AFC Cup, East Bengal will have a three-day residential preparatory camp at a five-star hotel in the city from Sunday to Tuesday.

East Bengal have already won the away tie 3-2 and need a draw to move into the quarter finals.East Bengal will miss several key players like Douglas de Silva, Debjit Ghosh, Subhas Chakaraborty and M. Suresh.

Meanwhile, East Bengal coach Subhas Bhowmick apologised on Thursday for kicking a supporter who had run on to the field to congatulate Bhaichung Bhutia for scoring the first goal against Indian Bank in their National League tie on Wednesday.

“I’m civilised and educated. I kicked him on the spur of the moment. I regret having done that. I’m sorry,” Bhowmick said.

The club president Dr Pranab Dasgupta hoisted the flag at the club premises on Thursday to mark East Bengal’s title win in the National League.
