After yet another failure in an ICC trophy final, captain Rohit Sharma feels Team India need to think and plan differently leading up to ODI World Cup at home in October-November.

"We will try to play in a different way in the World Cup. We will try to give people freedom and not think that we have to win this or that match," Rohit said at the news conference after India's 209-run loss to Australian in the World Test Championship final at The Oval on Sunday.

"We've been thinking that this match is important, this event is important and things are not happening. So obviously, we'll have to think differently and do things differently. Our message and focus will be on trying to do something different," Rohit emphasised.

Among the current lot, quite a few of the players are in their 30s and not in their prime either. So going forward, will India be taking some tough selection calls?

"We'll see whatever is required and whatever is best, and the brand of cricket we want to play in the next two years. And who are the guys who can play that role for us?

"There are a lot of guys who are doing really well in our domestic cricket. It's just about finding them and giving them that space, enough time to go forward and do the job for us," Rohit explained.
