Bhubaneswar, March 9: The National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, is buzzing with activity.

More than 100 students from Germany, Sri Lanka, Mozambique, Bhutan, USA, Thailand, Mauritius, Nepal, Bangladesh and other countries are on the campus to take part in the second International Students Meet that kicked off on March 7.

According to the authorities, the event aims at promoting culture, peace, mutual understanding and dialogues among nations and cultures. It provides an opportunity to students and youth from different nationalities to connect with each other sharing their culture, knowledge and build relations.

Apart from international students representing different civilisations and lifestyles, about 1,000 participants from IITs, NITs, engineering, medical, science, management and arts colleges from various parts of our country are taking part in the programme.

“The meet aims to help the institute reach out to the world and give students a global outlook. This is a humble attempt by our students and the very unique of its kind,” said R.K. Sinha, a senior official of the institute.

The three-day event has a mix of games, sports, art, culture, music, drama, dance, technical and other events such as business games, fashion show, robotic show and many more eye-catching events. Various technical, cultural and sports activities are being held as part of the students’ meet.

“It has been a wonderful experience to interact with all the participants. The ISM has helped us students widen and strengthen our international and national network. It has served as a platform for students to learn from each other and enhance their knowledge in diversified spheres,” said Preeti Jain, a student.
