Bhubaneswar, March 19: A summer training programme on radio jockeying will be organised in the city in next month. This will be the first-of-its-kind event in Odisha.

The 15-day workshop, organised by Outreach, will focus on radio programme presentation and will provide information about radio functioning to radio lovers, students and youngsters.

"There is no dedicated RJ training programme in the state for youngsters who want to make a career in this field. This workshop will help them to know more about the profession and radio programme production," said Subrat Kumar Pati from Outreach.

The workshop will train the participants on radio script-writing, live show presentation, pronunciation and modulation, outstation broadcast, radio news reporting and reading, listeners' interaction, dubbing and voice acting and public service broadcasting, among others. The participants will visit radio stations and work on practical assignments in studios. Importance will be given on personality development and harnessing communication skills.

Popular radio broadcasters, RJs and experts will join the workshop to train the participants. Every participant will be given a certificate at the end of the workshop.

"The minimum qualification required to join the workshop is Plus Two so that people from various backgrounds can take part in the workshop," Pati said.

The youth group, Outreach, has been promoting radio in the state by organising various programmes regularly.

They also host a radio fair every year and have recently launched an online radio channel www.radiobhubaneswar.com that focuses on live broadcasting of various events held in the state capital. "It is the oldest system of broadcasting in our country and it is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that the heritage continues," Pati added.
