Bhubaneswar, Aug. 19: BJD supremo and chief minister Naveen Patnaik today asked party workers to use social media to reach out to people across the state.
Speaking at a workshop organised by the Biju Samparka Committee of the party, Naveen said: “In the new generation, social media play a powerful role. Youth should actively use it as a medium of communication.”
Naveen said one lakh youth would be educated about the party’s youth policy and they would act as agents of change. He also appealed to the youths to work for the party’s victory in the urban election. Naveen also highlighted how his party was working for the development of the youth.
He said the policy aimed at social, financial and cultural development of youths in Odisha. The BJD chief was assured full support by frontal organisations of the party, including Chhatra Janata Dal, to the new initiative.
Biju Samparka Committee chairman Ranendra Pratap Swain urged the chief minister to extend the age of recruitment for government jobs from 32 years to 37 years. He also asked the youth to work to ensure that the party got the maximum number of Lok Sabha seats in the coming election.
“We should be able to reach a position from where we can dictate terms to any party which forms the government at the Centre,” said Swain.
The youth icon of the party, actor Anubhav Mohanty, said all should work under the leadership of Naveen to form a brave new Odisha.
“We should work to make Naveen Patnaik the chief minister for all time to come,” he said.
The party felicitated sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik, hockey star William Khalko, chess player Padmini Rout, cricketer Swagatika Rath, footballer Shradhanjali Samantray, social worker Rishi Patnaik and wildlife expert Nirmala Topno on the occasion.
