Bhubaneswar, Sept. 9: BhubaneswarOne - the one-stop information portal of the city - has added new features to its database to help citizens get more information and data.

The newly added data layers include administrative and statutory boundaries, Bhubaneswar Town Centre District area, bus routes, bus stops, road network, parking lots, heritage district, Ekamra Walks route and various other useful information for public convenience.

Earlier, the portal was providing information related to wards, public services, updated notifications from various government organisations, location and significance of the tourist sites. In the past, the portal had lacked periodical update and promotion, which led to its lesser use.

BhubaneswarOne is the GIS-based map portal that integrates geo-spatial data from all the government and private organisations for providing easy and hassle-free information for tourists and residents of Bhubaneswar.

Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited and the Bhubaneswar Development Authority have planned, designed and maintained the portal. This portal is only one among various smart city projects of the city that has realised.

The revamped BhubaneswarOne website

'The website has now been made responsive and compatible for all devices, such as desktops, laptops and smartphones, along with user-friendly interface and inter-module functional improvement,' said smart city managing director Krishan Kumar, adding that work had been initiated to add new city-level data, such as guide to playgrounds and parks.

A story map will also be integrated to the portal, which will have a unique link for each monument to access detailed search option on the portal. Moreover, the present functions such as 'know your plot' will also be added with the Building Plan Approval System and Bhulekh.

Sources said that in the next phase, BhubaneswarOne would initiate to integrate all services, including property tax, vehicle tracking system module, accident reporting, live data visualisation such as bus location, parking status and traffic status.

Besides, new features such as common payment system, 360 degree photographs, navigation services, 3D view and story map for learning centres and parks will be added to the portal in the second phase. Authorities plan to extensively promote the portal among citizen groups as well as on the social media.

'It is a good move of the administration to add new info to the portal. They should ensure its proper maintenance. Earlier, it was there for just namesake. I had once visited the website to find a pathetic service. It could even find popular places typed and searched in its search box,' said Unit-III resident Umesh Sahoo.
