Berhampur/Sambalpur, June 17: The process for admission into various post-graduate courses at Berhampur University and Sambalpur University is now in its final stages.
At Berhampur University, intimation letters to all selected students were sent today.
“The students have been asked to submit their original documents, including mark sheets and certificates, by July 1, so that we can finalise the process by July 2,” Ganapati Chowdhury, administrative officer of Berhampur University, said.
Classes for the post-graduation departments are scheduled to commence from July 4. The forms were made available on the official website of Berhampur University (www.bamu.nic.in).
The last date for receiving of application form was June 8 and the response had been good, Chowdhury said.
While general students had to pay Rs 300 towards processing-cum-application fee, for the SC/ST candidates, it was Rs 250. They had to apply to the head of the departments into which admission was sought.
“We would also take out a second list in case seats fall vacant. We would send intimation letters on the basis of merit to the students, who have had applied earlier on July 4, and ask them to furnish their documents in original by July 14. The list can then be prepared by July 15,” he said.
Berhampur University offers various post-graduate courses in botany, chemistry, physics, zoology, electronic science, marine sciences such as, oceanography, marine biology (all MSc degrees), home science (only for women candidates), mathematics (both MA/MSc), economics, English, history, industrial relations and personnel management, linguistics, mass communication, Oriya, political science (all MA degrees).
The other subjects are masters of business administration, MCom, law and computer application. It also offers diploma courses in tourism and Indian monuments and Russian language.
Sale of application forms at Sambalpur University is going on in full swing. Forms for the 22 regular courses were made available online (www.suniv.ac.in) from May 9, while counter sale started from May 15 and ended yesterday.
Postgraduate courses are offered in anthropology, business administration, regional art and culture studies, chemistry, computer science and application, earth science, economics, English, environmental science, history, home science, law, library and information science, mathematics, Oriya, electronics, physics, political science and public administration, school of life sciences, sociology and statistics.
Moreover, there are eight self-financing programmes being run by Sambalpur University’s Institute of Information and Technology (SUIT). The courses offered are computer science, biotechnology, MCA, executive MBA, diploma in business economics, population studies, social work, food and nutrition and geo-spatial technology. The last date for sale, as well as receipt, of forms for these eight courses is June 21.
Around 2,500 application forms for the regular courses, including 500 online, had been received by the university, said Prof. Surya Nayak, head of the IT department, here.
On the other hand, SUIT has received more than 300 forms for the self-financing courses. They are expecting more forms to come in since the last date of receiving application is June 21.
