Baripada, May 13: Mayurbhanj police today arrested two persons on the charge of raping a minor.

The 11-year-old girl is undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital in Baripada. The incident took place yesterday. The victim, a student of Class V, and the accused - Siban Singh, 26, and Shyamsundar Singh, 20 - are from the same village.

According to the police, the victim was raped by the accused when she had gone out to answer nature's call. The accused, who were fishing in a village pond along with some friends, forcibly took her to a secluded place and raped her.

The victim narrated her plight to her parents after returning home and they raised an alarm.

Sub-divisional police officer Dhiren Chandra Nanda conducted the probe and sent the victim for treatment to the Baripada district headquarters hospital after initial treatment at the local community health centre.

The accused persons were forwarded to the court today.
