Teenagers dazzle on ramp - Event aims to develop confidence among young girls

Bhubaneswar, Jan. 5: Drop dead beautiful looks, style, talent, intelligence and elegance filled the air as teenage models sashayed the ramp at the 14th Nanhipari Little Miss India beauty pageant that concluded last week.

As many as 19 young girls short listed from 10 states and aged between 11 and 13 years faced several rounds of competition during the three-day event that was hosted by KIIT International School.

Mitali Bhilwaria from Assam topped the contest and bagged the Nanhipari 2014 title on the final day. Aneshwa Nanda and Saina Salonika were crowned first and second runner-up, respectively. They also received cash awards of Rs 1 lakh, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively, along with a silver crown, trophy and certificates.

'The three-day experience was very enriching and unique for me,' said an elated Mitali. Ashna Mohanty, the winner of Nanhipari 2013, crowned Mitali on the final day. Nanhipari is an annual event that aims at developing confidence and inculcating values among young impressionable girls.

Malay Mahapatra, the organiser of this year's event, said activities such as written test, quiz, sports, art, song, dance, group discussion and training programmes on catwalk, personality development and skin care were held at the three-day camp.

Samrudhi Panda won the Little Miss Whiz kid for her intelligence. Other title winners were Bhoomika Dash from Odisha, who won the Little Miss Talent, Aksharita Baidehifrom Odisha, who won the Little Miss Catwalk and Priyanki Goswami from Assam, who won the Little Miss Personality title.

Elina Mahanta, Smruti Sikha Patro, K.R. Santoshini, Vanisha Dandapat, Aishwaya Samal, Sweta Mishra and Smruti Sikha Patro (all from Odisha), Riya Dutta from Bengal, Shivi Koch from Arunachal Pradesh, Sheba Roman from Karnataka, Ankita Patnaik from Andhra Pradesh and Mani Maitheli from Telangana were the winners of the various segments that were held at the event.
