Bhubaneswar, Aug. 24: The technical education department is getting ready for a four-day special recruitment drive for technical and management students from September 17 at Kalinga Stadium here.
While the National Informatics Centre (NIC) has already developed the software for the online registration, work is now on to create a payment gateway through which the students can deposit the money.
“We will be collecting Rs 100 from the students. However, as there are a large number of candidates, the amount has to be deposited online for which the payment gateway is being designed. The students can deposit the amount online using their ATM cards,” said Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) vice-chancellor J.K. Satapathy, who heads the committee to oversee the job fair.
“After the payment gateway is ready, which will most probably happen by Monday, we will issue a detailed advertisement for the job fair,” he said.
A lot of queries have been reaching the BPUT office regarding the job fair and the process. Prospective candidates who have completed BTech, MCA, MBA and pharmacy courses have been making inquiries to know how they can register.
“On August 12, they had announced that registration would begin immediately. But there is no information on how to register and where,” said Pratap Hota, a student.
“There will be a separate website for the job fair and the BPUT website will have a hyperlink for it. We have decided that the registration process will continue till first week of September to ensure that the maximum number of interested candidates is able to take part in the recruitment drive. The participants need not worry,” the vice-chancellor said.
He said the first two days of the drive would be for BTech, MTech and MCA pass outs. MBA degree holders would take part on the third day on September 19, while the last day would be reserved for placement of pharmacy graduates.
The committee, headed by the BPUT vice-chancellor and comprising Odisha Joint Entrance Examination officials and the directorate of technical education and training, has initiated talks with some 300 companies to participate in the job fair and recruit eligible candidates.
Forty kiosks would be set up at Kalinga Stadium to facilitate students’ interface with prospective employers at the event.
