Bhubaneswar, June 26: East Coast Railway is holding a three-day long cultural festival at Rail Vihar in the city from June 25. The participants of the festival will include employees of the railway services or their family members who are good in dance and music.

Inaugurated on Saturday by Anita Vohra, president, East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (ECoRWWO), a huge number of participants were seen showcasing their talent on stage during the first two days.

Artistes from Waltair, Khurda Road, Sambalpur divisions and zonal headquarters and Mancheswar workshop are participating in this festival where various categories have been laid out for performances. The candidates are performing in the fields of music in the categories of light vocal (solo), classical vocal (solo), instrumental (solo); classical dance — both in individual and group — and light folk dance in group; contemporary modern dance and drama.

“We wish to find out the latent talents in our railway family so that we can groom them further and represent them at national level contests or find facilities to develop their skills,” said Vohra.

“The cultural festival is an eye-opener for us. We never knew that so many amazing dancers, singers and drama artistes were here in our neighbourhood. This contest is a special platform for our group and we have given our best,” said an artiste of a drama group.

The winners will be given their awards on Monday evening when the festival will conclude and results would be declared.
