Bhubaneswar, July 5: The father of the minor who was reportedly sexually harassed by comedian Pappu Pom Pom today alleged that the girl whose statement was recorded in the court was not his daughter.

He claimed that the police had taken some other girl to the court for recording statement in the case.

On Monday, the father of the victim had submitted an affidavit at the Khurda district and sessions court seeking withdrawal of the case saying that the matter had been settled amicably by both the parties.

"My daughter had visited the police station only once. She was at home on July 28 - the day the police claimed that they had taken her to record her statement in the court. I strongly suspect the police took another girl to the court," claimed the father of the girl, speaking to a local news channel.

However, the police have denied the allegations levelled against them by the father of the victim.

"These claims have been made through a news channel. But, he has not lodged any formal complaint in this regard. We suspect that he is trying to settle the matter by making these false claims," said a senior police officer.

The father of the victim also claimed that the matter had been amicably settled between the two parties.

"Pappu is a good human being and the incident had taken place at Kalinga Studio when my daughter was in Class IX. At that time, Pappu was our neighbour. But, many days have passed since and I don't want to drag the incident further keeping my daughter's future in my mind. Nobody has pressurised me," he claimed.

On June 28, the police had lodged a case against Pappu under sections 354-A (sexual harassment), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult a woman) and 34 (crime done by more than one person) of Indian Penal Code and also under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
