Cuttack, Nov. 14: Visitors to Bali yatra will no longer have to worry about paying exorbitant parking fee to various individuals to park their vehicles as the district administration has decided to curb such fraudulent practice from this year.

Drawing lessons from the past, the administration this time decided to form a special squad for better management of about six parking lots that are being developed for the fair. The squad, consisting of various officials, will conduct surprise inspection of the parking lots and initiate action against violators.

The move will bring in uniformity in collection of parking fee and ensure that visitors do not pay more than the stipulated amount for parking their vehicles at multiple locations in the fair.

Police assistance has also been sought to ensure that individuals, who have been allotted the parking lots, do not charge extra money from the visitors.

“We have already prepared a rate chart for parking of vehicles and the police have been asked to initiate stern action against those who will charge more,” said tehsildar Subhanand Mohapatra.

He said the district administration had collected a revenue of Rs 10 lakh from the auction of the plots that had been converted into six parking lots at various places around the Bali yatra ground.
