Bhubaneswar, Oct. 12: Students from various B-schools across the country have arrived here to take part in Athlos – the three-day sports festival — going on at the Xavier Institute of Management in Bhubaneswar.

The three-day event, in its sixth edition will see participation from various B-schools, including the Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta in the next two days

To mark the beginning of the competition, a special event called X-enable was organised by the students for the differently-abled children on Friday. About 30 special children took part in various track and field events.

Enthusiastic kids were seen taking part in lemon race. The next game was throwball followed by musical chair, both of which were truly enjoyed by the participants and the students alike.

Other than outdoor games, some indoor games, too, were organised, which included carom, chess and others. The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners. The Athlos-2014 will include events such as cricket, football, basketball, volleyball , table tennis, badminton, throwball , lawn tennis, chess, track and field —100m, long jump, triple jump, shot-put, marathon and carom.

“Sports are a very important part of campus life at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB). We have an excellent infrastructure for all kinds of sports. Each student plays at least one game on a regular basis. Therefore, Athlos, the annual sports fest of the college, is one of the most awaited events on the XIMB calendar,” said Praful, a student.

“Sports committee at XIMB worked hard to put up an event that creates everlasting memories. The event will celebrate the culture of sportsmanship,” said an organiser.
