The arrested were forwarded to a local court on Sunday and were remanded in judicial custody after their bail applications were rejected. The attack took place on Wednesday morning at Mun-damala village in Vyas Nagar tehsil area in the district.

Local mining mafia Babuli Malik and their supporters attacked Vyas Nagar tehsildar Sapan Kumar Nanda, Pachhikote circle revenue inspector Sujit Kumar Samal, one assistant revenue inspector and two other staff members of Vyas Nagar tehsil.

The mafia and his supporters thrashed the tehsildar and his staff after a special squad, led by Nanda, detained a vehicle for illegally transporting morrum.
