Seminar benefits patients

The two-day national seminar on the orthotic management of neurological conditions, organised by Indian chapter of the International Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) at the Chakradhar Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences, concluded here on Sunday.

Bhubaneswar: The two-day national seminar on the orthotic management of neurological conditions, organised by Indian chapter of the International Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) at the Chakradhar Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences, concluded here on Sunday.

The SCB's neurology head Dr Ashok Kumar Mallick said: "The neurological conditions are the leading cause of disability and deaths in India. The discussion in seminar will be helpful in treating persons with disabilities and patients suffering from neurological disorders."

S.L. Yadav from the AIIMS, New Delhi, said: "Experts' meet for a discussion on the issue here will certainly help the prosthetics and orthotics professionals of the state. It will also benefit the patients."

ISPO's India president Dr B. Madhouraj said: "The programme will help to extend the knowledge about proper management regarding rehabilitation of patients and the disabled."

ISPO's India secretary Dr Artataran Patra spoke about its aims and how the society was disseminating technical knowledge among professionals for the benefit of patients.

Institute director Dr Deepak Sahoo said: "Participants from various states have learnt about orthotic management of neurological conditions and apply their knowledge in their respective workplaces." Many professionals from other states attended the programme.
