Rush for best colleges begins

Bhubaneswar, June 29: Admission process for the 162 degree colleges in the state, as per the first selection merit list, began today and will continue till July 1. Out of 74,968 applicants, 48,019 students have been short-listed for the first selection. The total number of sanctioned seats in these colleges is 57,312.

The second selection list will be published on the website of department of higher education (www.dheorissa.in) on July 6 at 11 am and the admission at the allotted colleges will be conducted on July 11 and 12. Thereafter, admission of SC/ST students for “extension” seats will be held on July 20 and the balance seats will be filled up through spot admission on July 25.

OJEE schedule

E-counselling for Orissa Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) rank holders will begin from July 3 and online registration choice filling for different streams will go on till July 15.

The locking of final choices, document verification and deposit of counselling fee of Rs 450 for engineering courses will be done at nodal centres from July 18 to 29.

The first round of provisional seat allotment is to be held during the first week of August.

The second round of seat allotment is scheduled to be held from August 10. Different dates will be announced for the different streams.

Chief secretary Bijay Patnaik has instructed OJEE authorities to notify all dates clearly well in advance through the media.
