Bhubaneswar, Jan. 9: Manav is just two-feet tall and weighs 21kg. It can do headstands, push-ups as well as dance and play football.
Manav, India's first 3D printed humanoid robot, demonstrated its skills before the students of IIT Bhubaneswar during the institute's first techno management fest, Wissenaire, today.
The robot, which is powered by 21 servos, is made up of 3D printed plastic. It has two cameras as eyes and two headphones as ears and can follow instructions. Manav was launched last year.
Manav was fully designed, printed and manufactured in India by the A-SET Training and Research Institutes in New Delhi.
Diwakar Vaish, Manav's creator and the head of robotics and research at the A-SET institute, today spoke to the students on new techniques in the field of robotics.
"Manav is available for purchase between Rs 1.5 and 2.5 lakh and the robot can be customised as per the consumer's wishes," said Vaish.
Vaish said that his team already has technologies that can sense how the brain is reacting and thinking.
"We are copying a person's ability to learn and understand the environment on a computer. Once it is done successfully, the system would be able to exactly replicate a human's consciousness and would exactly react the way a human would," he said.
