Bhubaneswar, May 9: The state government today reformed the process to facilitate smooth running of businesses.

The government claimed to have attracted 54 industrial units with an investment commitment worth Rs 1,11,500 crore in the state within five months after the Make In Odisha Conclave had been held in Bhubaneswar. It has attributed its proactive "Ease of Doing Business" policy to the success.

It was decided to carry forward the reforms to further simplify the procedural compliances for doing business in Odisha.

The Business Reform Action Plan-2017 was discussed at a review meeting, chaired by chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi. The meeting was informed that around 405 action points pertaining to 18 departments were suggested to be included in the action plan. Of them, 173 action points have been complied with. A compendium of reforms introduced till the date have been put on the website http://www.investodisha.org/eodb/compedium for information of the investors.

Padhi directed the officials of departments concerned to ensure 100 per cent implementation of the reforms already notified by the government. "The district and field-level officers should be fully aware about the importance and objectives of the reforms and implement them proactively."

He also asked the departments to complete the process of reform and their implementation by October 31. The departments concerned were also asked to publicise the reforms they had already been introduced.

The meeting further decided to conduct regular reviews of implementation of the reforms at various levels. Each department will designate a nodal officer. Its secretary will take a weekly review. The industries department will take a fortnightly review and a monthly implementation review will be conducted at the chief secretary level. A bi-monthly review meeting about the reforms will be held at the level of chief minister.

The proposal to switch over to online single window system was also discussed.
