Cuttack, June 9: Ravenshaw University announced its undergradiate results here today.
Of the total 1,756 students who appeared in science, arts and commerce streams, 963 girls and 704 boys have passed in the examinations. The total pass percentage of students is 94.93 against 94.21 last year.
Girl students have topped in 21 of 28 subjects.
Vice-chancellor B.C. Tripathy announced that Avisikta Bera of chemistry and Satyanarayan Routray of information science and technology are this year’s best graduates.
Bera has secured 1,755 marks out of 2,000 (87.75 per cent) while Routray has secured 2,156 marks out of 2,400 (89.83 per cent) in the Plus Three final examinations.
Of 472 students in arts, 455 have passed, 602 out of 643 students have passed in science and 610 out of 643 students have passed in commerce stream.
Of these, 270 students have secured first division in arts, 571 in science and 346 students in commerce stream. The total pass percentage is 97 in arts, 93.62 in science and 95.16 in commerce.
“We have been successful in publishing the results within two weeks after completion of the examination. Efforts are also on to implement various measures to upgrade the quality of education at the varsity,” said Tripathy.
Tripathy said that students would have to opt for at least three special papers beyond the regular courses as part of the choice-based credit system, which would shortly be introduced.
As part of the new system, a student from any stream will have to undertake interdisciplinary subject (50 marks) from this academic session onward after the proposal of the curriculum reforms is approved by the academic council in July.
Besides, the varsity has also decided to fully take over the masters in public health programme, which was being conducted in public-private partnership mode, from this academic session. The two-year programme in public health was being run from Bhubaneswar for the last two years.
