Raghubir's play at fest

Theatre personality and actor Raghubir Yadav, who shot to fame with television serials - Mungerilal Ki Haseen Sapne and Chacha Choudhury - and movies - Salaam Bombay, Lagaan and more recently Pipli Live, will stage a play at the Mathkhai Mahotsav, the multilingual national drama festival hosted by Balangir-based cultural organisation Bhumika.

Balangir: Theatre personality and actor Raghubir Yadav, who shot to fame with television serials - Mungerilal Ki Haseen Sapne and Chacha Choudhury - and movies - Salaam Bombay, Lagaan and more recently Pipli Live, will stage a play at the Mathkhai Mahotsav, the multilingual national drama festival hosted by Balangir-based cultural organisation Bhumika.

The festival will begin on Sunday at Koshal Kalamandal here. President of Bhumika, Akhila Kumar Hota, said the actor had given his consent to come to Balangir with his troupe to stage a play on the opening day.

"He will arrive here on January 20, a day before the start of the festival and will interact with fans and theatre lovers," he said. Odia theatre personality and film actor Ajit Das has also given his consent to stage his play at the festival.

Announcing the schedule, Hota said on the opening evening of the festival, Raghuveer Yadav would stage his play Piano, Hindi adaptation of Ferene Karinthy's Hungarian drama Steinway Grand.

On the second evening of the festival, a play in Koshali, Mudra Pathar, by Moonlight Swechhasevi Anushthan, Keseipali, of Bargarh will be staged. The play is written by Chudamani Rath. On the third evening, Karmayogi Creative Group of Bhopal will stage Swapnalok, followed by Odia play Budha Sankhari by Abhinaya Jagruti Institute of Theatres, Bhubaneswar, on the fourth day.
