Six-day theatre festival begins in Rourkela

Bhubaneswar, April 23: A six-day theatre festival began at Civic Centre in Rourkela last evening.

The inaugural evening's attraction was a play produced by theatre group Amara from Puri.

Named Mo Stree Ra Bahaghara (My Wife's Wedding), the play was on the theme of the lack of ethics and discipline in the lives of people that could ultimately lead to the disintegration of a family.

The two main characters in the play were called Prakash and Rekha, who were portrayed by actors Trilochan Das and Baibhavi Priyadarshini.

On the second day, the inaugural show will be mono action by Nrushingha Charana Mohanty.

Other attractions of the festival are: Adhe Adhure by Uttara Purusha Kula Beusa, Ashra Khojibuluthiba Eswara by Sobha from Balasore, Chakrabuyha by cultural association, Sambalpur, and finally Brindabanara Sesha Rourkela by New Quest Repo Try, Rourkela.

Secretary of the host organisation Rajeeb Pani said: "It is not easy to get quality indigenous scripts and that is what we look for. Besides, money is also also a problem."

Stage actor and director Pulin Mansingh said: "I love the festival especially because they maintain the standard of plays."
