Bhubaneswar, Feb. 17: A third-year student of integrated MBA of the premier Utkal University has alleged sexual harassment against his seniors after he found out that nude video clips of his were being circulated through MMS on cell phones on campus.

The student (name withheld) today submitted a written complaint to the chairman of the PG Council, Samson Moharana, alleging that his seniors had harassed him in the second week of January.

The incident allegedly took place on January 9 at No. 6 integrated hostel on campus. According to the complainant, his seniors and some outsiders had forced him to one of the rooms (room no. 31) and asked him to strip. They even forced him to make obscene and vulgar poses and then clicked his photos and captured him on video with their mobile phone cameras. Later, they told him to leave after threatening him with dire consequences if he spoke of the incident. Scared, the student chose not report the incident to anybody until recently after he came to know that his pictures were being circulated on campus.

“I pleaded with them (seniors) to free me, but they did not listened. I was scared and did not dare to complain. It was only on January 14 that I came to know from some of my friends that a video clip of mine was being circulated,” the student said.

“I want justice. Action should be taken against the guilty,” he added. “We have received the complaint,” confirmed Samson Moharana today. “It’s certainly a serious offence. The matter will be probed. Those involved in the incident will also be given the opportunity to put forth their arguments. We will follow procedure. Those involved will not be spared,” said the chairman of the PG Council. The varsity authorities have ordered a high-level inquiry into the matter. The hostel superintendent will be conducting an immediate inquiry into the incident and based on the fact finding report, the university security officer will be conducting another probe.

An increasing number of incidents involving students using technology to circulate porn have been coming to light in the recent past. The Telegraph had reported on November 16 last year (“Twin cities under porn glare”) how an unrestricted flow of recordings of indecent content featuring college girls with their “lovers” have been making rounds in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
