Balasore: The proposed model school in the town is moving through uncertainties as it is yet to be readied despite its inauguration date coming near.

The model school is to be established at Sutei under Remuna block on five acres.

Although the classes for students would commence from this academic session, 2018-19, the construction works are yet to be completed. Authorities said admission for the two classes VI and VII was in progress and would commence from June third week.

Against the claim of the authorities, the ground reality is dismal. The construction works of the double-storey building is in progress. They said the ground floor is near to completion and furniture would be procured before the session. However, the wall plastering, flooring, doors and windows are yet to be completed for the ground floor.

Further, there is no hostel facility or playground and toilet for both the students and the staff members, while the model school concept is to provide free education to the students in CBSE along with free accommodation and food.

The department said the strength of each class - VI and VII - would be 80, and the books and dresses would be provided free of cost.

The teaching staff members would be sent by the state authority and the non-teaching employees would be recruited.

"We are committed to commence the class from the current academic session. The hostel facilities couldn't be built. So, the students enrolled this year are regarded as day scholars. Later, hostels as well as the food facilities would be provided in the subsequent years," said district education officer H.K. Kandi.

"The playground would be created later on. The school would be ready for the students from class VI to class XII, and the education method and syllabus would follow the CBSE pattern," he said.
