Plus Two exam dates

Bhubaneswar: The Plus Two examination will begin from March 6 and conclude on March 29, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) announced on Thursday. Theory examinations of science and commerce streams will begin first, while those in arts stream will commence a day later. On the first day, science and commerce stream students will appear for English. The examinations will begin from 10am and end at 1pm, a notification issued by the CHSE said. 

Dates extended

Cuttack: The Board of Secondary Education on Thursday extended the last date for filling up of application forms for the annual board exam from November 18 to November 19. Online applications started on November 1. The examination is scheduled to start from February 23.

Dance fest

Cuttack: Gunjan Dance Academy’s three-day dance and music festival will start from November 18. Academy secretary Meera Das said for the first time in the history of Odisha, a fusion of Indian classical dance (Odissi) with western classical dance (flamenco) would be presented by Gunjan and Virginia Bastadia Doncel from Spain. 

Medical neglect cry

berhampur: The widow of a former lecturer in mass communication at Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja College has lodged a complaint of medical negligence against a doctor. Amulya Kumar Mahanty’s widow Sangita Panda alleged that the Bhanjanagar Hospital doctor administered the wrong medicine to her husband, causing his death.

Drill postponed

paradip: The joint security drill — Sagar Kavach — which was scheduled to start on Thursday, has been postponed to November 27-28 due to inclement weather, said Paradip coast guard commandant Ashis. More than 1,000 personnel from 18 marine police stations in Odisha, 12 marine police stations in Bengal, Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard in Paradip and Haldia, and port, customs, forest and fisheries officials will take part in the exercise.

Crops affected in Ganjam

berhampur: The cyclonic depression and rain might have affected paddy on 1.8 lakh hectares, vegetable crop on 77 thousand hectares and flower cultivation on 2,000 hectares because of waterlogging in the fields in the district, according to Manoj Kumar Behera, deputy director of agriculture, and Bhagaban Das, deputy director of horticulture, Ganjam. Out of the kharif paddy crop on 2.16 lakh hectares, 30 per cent crop is not harvest-ready and the farmers have reaped only 15 to 20 per cent of the harvest-ready paddy.

Fake certificate

berhampur: Police busted a fake income certificate racket at Pitatali in Chikiti tehsil. The cops arrested P. Basant Rao, a computer operator at Pitatali, after ATO Shakti Prasad Harichandan traced him.

Bank fraud

berhampur: Police have arrested Dibakar Nayak, 35, a resident of Banichabania Gayatri Nagar , for defrauding Rs 25 lakhs from the Bank of India's Hinjili branch through internet banking and mobile trading using e-wallet and PayTM through different fake CVV codes.

Truck traced

balasore: A truck, which had been missing since Tuesday from Panikoili under Jajpur distict, was traced from Chandipur. The driver and helper had gone to a roadside dhaba after parking the truck when some goons hijacked the vehicle. 

Vehicle seized

baripada: Forest department officials of Betnati seized a timber-laden vehicle after raids. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot.
