Bhubaneswar, Aug. 5: Author Paramita Satpathy's book Prapti is now available in a compact disc (CD), which was released at Rabindra Mandap last evening.

Prapti, a collection of novellas by Satpathy, was published in December 2012. The main story in the anthology was based on a woman's fight with her conscience and inner quest for love. The female protagonist is confused between her attraction towards her lover and husband and the mainstay of the tale is her self-assessment of the situation.

Satpathy has herself read out the story for the CD - that found immense popularity among readers. "This is an effort to promote literature with the help of technology," said the author during the event.

Veteran litterateur Ramakant Rath unveiled the CD.

"Odia literature needs to be given a boost since most of the works are not available any more with many publishers shutting shop in various towns and cities of the state," said Rath.

The play based on the book, a solo act by Pratibha Das, received great appreciation from the viewers. Pratibha wonderfully brought out the confusions between love and lust of the character in her performance.

"Psychological novels or stories have a special charm, and that was exuded in the acting skills of Pratibha during the play. Also, it is unique that an Odia book is now available in an audio format. We hope more such popular books to come out in the same form, so that literature grows among those, who do not have much time to read a book after a long day at work," said Manas Behera, a member of the audience.
