It might have come as a huge respite for tainted legislators, but reactions have been pouring in ever since the Union Cabinet cleared an ordinance to protect convicted lawmakers from disqualifications under a Supreme Court judgment. While many welcomed the decision saying that the apex court verdict could have been misused by pulling strings, others felt that the step has undermined the Indian judiciary. On July 10, the Supreme Court had ruled that an MP or an MLA would lose his or her seat if convicted in a criminal case. The Telegraph asked citizens from different walks of life what they had to say about the decision taken on Tuesday.
