Cuttack, Sept. 22: The Cuttack-Bhubaneswar police have drawn up a special traffic management plan for the upcoming Dussehra, which is celebrated in a grand manner here in the Millennium City.

According to the proposal, a one-way traffic system will be implemented to regulate flow of vehicles at different streets during the festive season from October 2 to 7.

Police officials said, the city has been divided into eight sectors each of which will have one sub-inspector assigned to regulate traffic. One assistant commandant will supervise the traffic flow at each zone comprising two sectors in the city. One deputy commandant for the four zones will ensure the implementation of one-way traffic.

“Adequate provisions have been made and a comprehensive traffic management plan has been drawn up to regulate the rush during Dussehra. We will ensure that devotees coming from different parts of the city and state do not face problems during the festivities,” said assistant commissioner of police (traffic) Krushna Samal.

One-way traffic will be implemented from October 2 to 6 between 4pm and 12 midnight in different parts of the city including Mangalabag. No vehicles coming from the Howrah Motors end will be allowed to move directly towards Mangalabag. The vehicles will be diverted through Matamatha to Ranihat via Ring Road and Engineering School Chhak.

Vehicles coming from Dolmundai will not be allowed to directly approach Ranihat. Instead, the traffic will be diverted through Canal Road and move straight towards Thoria Sahi, Mangalabag and Buxi Bazar.

Similarly, traffic from Dolmundai can directly move towards Chhatrabazar and Malgodown via Mahatab Road. Vehicles from Chhatrabazar and Malgodown will not be allowed to approach Dolmundai via Mahatab Road.

Traffic officials said no vehicles from the Choudhry Bazaar end would be allowed towards Gaurishankar Park. Traffic would be diverted at Balu Bazar and no vehicles from that side would be allowed to move towards Nimchoury, high court and Chandini Chowk.
