Bhubaneswar: Police on Wednesday detained a youth who was found accompanying the 17-year-old girl who had fell unconscious after allegedly being given spiked chocolate in the state capital on Monday.

The father of the girl, a Plus Two arts student at a premier government-run college, suspected that some male students had shot a nude video of his daughter when she was intoxicated.

The police, on the basis of footage from the institute's CCTV cameras, found that the girl was being accompanied by a youth. Investigations revealed that the youth was not a student of the institute. "Investigations, so far, do not reveal that the girl was unconscious on campus. We have also traced the youth who accompanied her to her house and are interrogating him," said deputy commissioner of police Satyabrata Bhoi.

On the other hand, the girl complained of uneasiness after she was discharged from the intensive care unit of Capital Hospital on Wednesday. The police said doctors who looked after her in the hospital suspected that she might have some neurological problem. They have also referred her to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Her father has alleged one of the girl students of the institute offered her a chocolate after which she complained of uneasiness. "We went through the college register, but did not found any such girl whose name was told by her father. We are waiting for the statement of the girl that will be recorded after she recovers fully," said a police officer.

On Tuesday, the victim's father lodged a complaint with Kharavela Nagar police. The girl's father has also accused a few male students of intoxicating students to record nude videos of them.

"The girl's father had also named two male students involved in such activities. But based on the college register, we did not find any such student. He will be summoned to appear for further investigation," said a police officer.
