Bhubaneswar, Jan. 2: The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE)-2013 may go “green” this time with authorities planning to conduct the process mostly without the use of papers.

According to plans, students appearing for OJEE will have to follow an online process, right from filling up forms to dispatch of registration cards.

However, the entrance exams will continue to be held offline – on paper. The technical education department has initiated this move to make the process less time consuming and hassle free.

“The decision has been taken by the cabinet committee on technical education and is awaiting minister’s approval. However, a formal announcement is yet to be made in this regard,” a senior officer of the technical education department said.

Until last year, students used to collect forms from designated banks and post offices and send them by post to the OJEE office.

Many a time, these forms never reached the authorities or got delayed, creating hassles for applicants.

However, with the new system in place, students can fill up forms and submit them online on the OJEE website. They can also check the final form fill-up data on the website and download their registration cards.

“It is a welcome move and would definitely benefit students. It will save them the trouble of unnecessarily going to banks numerous times. When the online system has already been introduced at Plus Two level, there will not be much problem if it is introduced for OJEE,” said OJEE secretary Priabrata Sahoo.
