Angul, April, 17: Mukesh Kumar Gour (40), an accountant working with the Sainik Coal Transport Company, was shot dead by an unknown assailant at his residence last night at South Balanda in Talcher.

“Gour had been killed at 9pm. But people came to know about his death only this morning only when a milk vender found his body lying in a pool of blood. A bullet pierced through his body from the back and came out from chest,” said the sub divisional police officer of Talcher, B.B. Sahu.

Sahu said: “After his office works last night, Gour went to his residence. Opening his house gate he went to keep his motorcycle in the garage. But he could not close the garage as he was shot at by his killer and fell down there on the ground.” The news of his death could not be known till this morning. He was staying alone in the house. Gour, a native of Delhi, is survived by his wife and two children. His family lives in Delhi.

The transport company authorities are shocked over his killing as Gour was known to be a good natured person and did not have enmity with anyone. “We never expect somebody could be his enemy and kill him like this. He was a well mannered and very amiable person,” said his company’s director Sabai Singh. He just recently moved his family to Delhi and got his children admitted to a school there,” Singh added.

Police is clueless over his murder. A dog squad and scientific team have been pressed into the service. So far police has not detained any body in this connection.
