Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the All India Police Housing Conference on Thursday. The themes for this year are green building construction technology, earth-quake-resistant buildings, constructions in the coastal areas and fast track technology for civil construction.

E-Vidyalaya

Bhubaneswar: Updated progress of the ‘E-Vidyalaya’ project was discussed in the board of directors meeting of Odisha Knowledge Corporation Limited (OKCL) held under chairmanship of chief secretary Gokul Chandra Pati. Pati advised OKCL to design teaching materials for diploma, ITI and other vocational courses.

Compensation

Kendrapara: A consumer, who was duped by a private bus operator 17 years ago, has finally got justice. The Kendrapara District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed a private bus operator to pay of Rs 2,000 as compensation to a person for deficiency of service. The bus owner had failed provide the public transport to the complainant on 22 June, 1997 when his son got married.

Ganja haul

Kendrapara: Excise personnel have seized 450 gram of cannabis and arrested a drug peddler from Nialhaat village under Aul police limits. The contraband has an estimated value of Rs 50,000.
