Cuttack: Markat Nagar police on Thursday arrested six persons in connection with the murder of a 29-year old youth at Immamnagar near Satichoura on Wednesday night. Police said the accused were between 19 and 22 years of age and intoxicated. They had attacked Jugal Behera, 29, following an altercation, around 10.30 pm on Wednesday. Behera, who had suffered multiple injuries to his head, chest and neck, died on the way to SCB Medical College and Hospital. BHUBANESWAR: Employment, technical education and training minister Pratap Keshari Deb said the camp office of the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) in Bhubaneswar would continue to operate for a week every month. his decision came a day after a group of irate students from various engineering colleges affiliated to BPUT ransacked the camp office, protesting against the permanent shifting of the varsity office from the capital to Rourkela. Sambalpur:The workers of Hindalco Industry limited in Hirakud on Thursday staged a demonstration in front of the office of the collector. They demanded lifting the closure notice slapped on the power plants by the State Pollution Control Board. The workers also handed over a memorandum to the collector. The state pollution control board had slapped notice on Hindalco to shut down the power plants following breach in the ash mound of the company twice this month. Kendrapara: Police arrested three persons, including a woman, on Thursday on charges of running a sex racket from a lodge at Keshpur Bazar. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and arrested the accused. Cuttack: One person was injured after goons attacked him at a country liquor shop at Barang on Thursday afternoon. The injured, Chabindra Sahani, who works as a salesman at the liquor joint, was shot at after an altercation with the goons around 4pm. Sahani suffered a bullet injury on his right foot and is now undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital.
