Suicide bid after theft charge
Jajpur: A 50-year-old man, arrested on charges of theft, allegedly attempted suicide by slitting his throat with a blade during interrogation by police at his house at Bhitartamania village within the limits of Kalinga Nagar police station on Friday.
According to police, Badal Hembrum was arrested in connection with a theft case on Thursday night. He was taken to his house by the police to recover stolen items from there. Immediately after entering his house, the accused tried to slit his throat with a blade. When he did not come out of his house, the police entered the house to find him lying in a pool of blood.
Bhubaneswar: The BJD leadership has not yet made up its mind to whose favour the party MPs would cast their vote during the vice-presidential election. Before leaving for Delhi, chief minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik told reporters on Friday that consultations were on as to whom his party would vote for the post of the Vice-President. Short-supply of coal has badly hit the NTPC units. Out of the state's requirement of 3200MW unit of electricity everyday, it is getting only 2300MW.
