Three hacked to death

Bhubaneswar: Three members of a family were hacked to death at Beheramal village in Sonepur on Thursday night. The deceased have been identified as Pramod Bhoi, his daughter Bishnupriya and granddaughter Babita. Sources said the three were attacked by a neighbour called Neela Pradhan over some past dispute. Both Pramod and Bishnupriya died on the spot while Babita succumbed to the injuries at the hospital. The accused, Neela Pradhan, has surrendered at the local police station.

Old bullets

Bhubaneswar: British-era bullets were found inside a septic tank behind District Industry Centre of Jeypore town in Koraput district today. Sources said around 500 bullets were found packed in a plastic box.

Maoist

Bhubaneswar: Chitren Pangi, an 18-year-old Maoist, laid down arms before Koraput police on Friday. Chitren, who had joined the rebels some four months ago, was an active member of Guma area committee of the Maoists.
