Fake varsities

Bhubaneswar: The University Grants Commission has said that there are 23 fake varsities in the country, out of which two are in the state. States have also been asked to initiate proceedings against those involved in defrauding and cheating students. The universities include the Nababharat Shiksha Parishad in Rourkela and the North Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology in Baripada. The UGC has derecognised the institutes for not conforming to the provisions of the UGC Act, 1956.

Auto strike

Bhubaneswar: The All Odisha Auto Chalaka Mahasangha has decided to go on a state-wide strike on March 22 protesting against the hike in fee for registration, insurance and fitness certificate of the vehicles. The strike is likely to affect students appearing for their Plus Two board examinations.
