Bus fare revised

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Thursday revised the bus fares after diesel price was decreased by Rs 2 per litre. While the fares for ordinary and express buses were reduced by 1 paisa per kilometre, the fares for deluxe and AC deluxe buses were slashed by two paise per kilometre.  This is the third fare revision after the state government had decided to introduce automatic fare revision system in June this year.   

Warrant 

Bhubaneswar: The police on Thursday approached the SDJM court seeking a non-bailable warrant against Rajendra Barik, the main accused in the Patrapada murder case. A 35-year-old contractor Dillip Naik was allegedly shot dead by his rival group near a construction site behind the AIIMS Hospital in Patrapada under Khandagiri police station on June 18. Barik, the mastermind behind the murder, had been on the run since the crime took place.

Plus Three

Bhubaneswar: The first phase of admissions in Plus Three science, arts and commerce streams began on Thursday. The admission procedures will continue till July 23. There are a total number of 2,00,094 seats in the state.

Arms found

Rourkela: The Bonai police have seized four single-barrel country made pistols during regular combing operation in the jungles. The combined team of security forces were on a regular patrolling when they found the weapons. The police had prior information about the movement of Maoists near the Phooljhar jungle under Mahulpada police station limits. Besides, it also had the information that a small consignment of arms being smuggled to a particular destination.

Water release

Sambalpur: Water from the Mahanadi river was released through seven sluice gates in Hirakud Dam on Thursday. The water level has been recorded at 611. 42ft at the reservoir.

Sprinter

Bhubaneswar:  Ace woman sprinter of Odisha, Srabani Nanda met chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the secretariat yesterday and shared her experience in the recently concluded Asian Athletic Championship and Asian Grand Prix events, where she bagged five bronze medals.
