Jagannath temple

Bhubaneswar: The renovation of the sanctum sanctorum of Jagannath temple in Puri may start from December 16 without shifting the deities. “All the temple rituals will be completed by 11am before handing over the temple to ASI,” said temple chief administrator Suresh  Mohapatra.

Four dead

Cuttack: Four members of a family died in mysterious condition in a house in Markatnagar on Thursday. All the four, including a woman and two minors, were found to have been charred to death in their house.

Medicos protest

Bhubaneswar: Students of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) on Thursday locked the gates of the institute in protest against the absorption of Sardar Rajas Medical College students in two government-run medical colleges. They have been protesting since November 23. Intensifying their protest, students of MKCG Medical College, VIMSAR and Hi-Tech Medical College also took out a rally in the state capital.   

18 arrested

Paradip: The forest department stepped up its drive to protect olive ridley turtles’ ahead of their mating season and took into custody 18 fishermen in for fishing illegally along the Gahirmatha marine sanctuary on Thursday.
