User fee drive

Bhubaneswar: The civic body has chalked out a detailed plan to go to people and continue its drive for collection of user fees across the city for efficient management of solid waste. Tax and ward officers will take members of the resident welfare associations into confidence as the user fees will cover costs incurred by street sweeping, door-to-door garbage collection and sanitation activities. 

New VCs

Bhubaneswar: Governor S.C. Jamir on Wednesday appointed three officers-on-special duty as vice-chancellors of the state’s three new universities. Sudhansu Shekhar Rath will take charge as vice-chancellor of Gangadhar Meher University, Padmaja Mishra of Rama Devi Women’s University and Manmath Padhi of Khallikote Cluster University.

Accident

Bhubaneswar: Three persons died in a road accident on NH-5 when their car rammed into truck near Manjuri within Simulia police limits. Another person was injured in the accident. The deceased have been identified as Manoj Upadhay, 35, Asit Satpathy, 55, and her daughter Suparno Satpathy. The injured, Sala Hembram, the driver is undergoing treatment. All of them were residents of Baripada.

New rail boss

Sambalpur: P. Raveendran recently took charge as the divisional railway manager, Khurda road division of East Coast Railway.
