Bhubaneswar: : The state government has approved a proposal recommending university status for three private colleges. The Asian Institute of Public Health, Bhubaneswar, Asian School of Business Management, Bhubaneswar, and the Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology in Gunupur will be granted university status after a bill is approved in the Assembly.

Drug bust

Koraput: Police have arrested at least 21 ganja smugglers in the past few weeks in a special drive against the trade, a police officer said. The special task force was formed under the direct supervision of district superintendent of police.

4 dead in accident

Sambalpur: Four persons were killed after a truck and a car collided head-on at Ghagaramunda in Parjang police limits in Dhenkanal district on Sunday. According to reports, the mishap took place when the two vehicles collided and skidded off the road. The car was crushed under wheels of the truck leading to death of four persons on the spot. Police reached the spot and started an investigation into the case.

Medical units 

Keonjhar: Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan flagged off 10 Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) on Sunday, which will travel across villages in the state to provide free primary healthcare services. These medical units are GPS enabled. One unit can cover upto 4 to 5 villages in a day on a regular basis and can cater to the health needs of 90 to 100 people on an average. In case of emergencies, they can also function as a referral clinic and as ambulance also.

Rain on cards

Bhubaneswar: Weather department predicted heavy rainfall in parts of Odisha due to a “well-marked low pressure” over west-central Bay of Bengal. The state will also experience gusty surface wind accompanied by rainfall in the next 24 hours.
