Bhubaneswar, July 11: Two parks in Sambalpur city will get a refurbished look shortly.

The renovation of Sen Park and Bhima Boi Park will be carried out at a cost of Rs 82.81 lakh.

Commissioner of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation Bimalendu Rai said work order for the renovation purpose had been issued. "The work will be over within six months," he said.

The parks will have pathways, joyrides, outdoor fitness gadgets as well as decorative lights, benches and dust bins.

The Sen Park has lost its sheen because of lack of maintenance. Here, light posts and the fountains are lying defunct, while the swings remain broken.

Similar is the fate of the Bhima Bhoi Children's Park at Budharaja. "Sambalpur residents are deprived of places to hangout. In an urban centre, park is treated as one of the favourite destinations to spend leisure time. The renovation will provide place for the denizens for recreation," said local resident Tarun Mehe.
