Mother's boy brings laurel - Girls shine in CBSE Class XII exams in Bhubaneswar zone

Bhubaneswar, May 28: Anshuman Mohapatra of Mother’s Public School here has excelled in the CBSE Class XII exams in the Bhubaneswar region, the results of which were declared today.

Anshuman, a student of science, has scored 496 out of 500 marks (98.8 per cent) in the exams. Full marks in mathematics, chemistry, physical education (fourth optional subject), 99 in physics and 95 in English, reads his report card. “I had worked very hard. My parents, friends and teachers are more than elated at the news,” said the aspiring chemical engineer, who has secured 2,314th rank in the IIT entrance exam. His position in the Indian Institute of Science and Technology entrance test is 460.

Anshuman said he had never set a timetable and spent around four to five hours a day on studies, supplementing his preparations with coaching classes at a private institute.

Crediting his success to his parents, friends and teachers, Anshuman said his father Snehasish Mohapatra, an assistant engineer of the water resource department, had been his biggest inspiration.

“He made us very proud today. He has always been focussed, confident and determined. This is the best day of my life,” Snehasish said.

Principal of Mother’s Public School Polly Patnaik said: “Anshuman is an all-rounder. But, the most amazing thing about him is that he never used to get stressed or jittery. We feel extremely proud to say that he is our student.”

Among other students, who have done exceedingly well in the science stream, are Aditya Shekhar Acharya of DAV School-Chandrasekharpur (96.2 per cent), Swastik S. Panda and Anwesha Choudhury of DAV-Pokhariput (95.6 per cent), Swayam Satyendu of ODM Public School (95.8 per cent), Suman Arabinda of DAV-Unit VIII (95.4 per cent) and Anshuman Swain of Delhi Public School-Kalinga (95 per cent). In commerce, girls have aced the exams. Risha Bagchi of Sai International (95.6 per cent), Nikita Chinara of DAV-Unit VIII (94.6 per cent) and Aishwarya Rathi of Mother’s Public School (94.2 per cent) have brought laurels for their respective schools.
