Bhubaneswar, Dec. 5: Cutting across party lines, members of the state legislative Assembly today expressed their concern over Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s reported statement on Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharif had said that Kashmir was a flashpoint that could trigger a fourth war between Pakistan and India. He also said that he had a dream of seeing Indian Kashmir free and hoped to see it happen during his lifetime.
Condemning the statement of Sharif, leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh said: “A resolution should be passed in the Assembly condemning the statement of the Pakistan Prime minister.”
Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja said a fitting reply would be given to Sharif for his statement.
Government chief whip Pravat Tripathy said: “The Assembly can take up the issue for discussion at length.”
