Bhubaneswar, Aug. 10: Xavier University's School of Sustainability will host its three-day annual Sustainability Summit-2016 from tomorrow.
The event, the theme of which is "energy, peace and global governance", aims to bring to the mainstream sustainability in management education and promote research in energy and peace and start a movement to put energy and peace at the centre of discourse.
"We want to create a platform for institutional network to promote the theme and highlight the link between energy and conflict. The summit is also important following the 17 sustainable development goals adopted by the United Nation in 2015, where the goals are devoted to achieving affordable and clean energy," said dean of the institution, S. Peppin. Governor S.C. Jamir will inaugurate the event.
The varsity has also collaborated with Wipro to conduct a Best Paper Award on "Advancing Sustainability in Management Education and Research on Energy, Peace and Global Governance". Papers have been invited from teachers and research scholars from management institutions.
"The Xavier School of Sustainability aims to address ecological and sustainability concerns," father Paul Fernandes, vice-chancellor of Xavier University, Bhubaneswar said.<>
"We are humbled by the overwhelming response to this Summit and for development to be truly sustainable, we need a different global order that promotes peace and equitable consumption of energy and natural resources," said Peppin.
