Bhadrak: Police on Thursday arrested a disabled resident of Sahaspura village for killing his 24-year-old wife and nine-month-old son.

Abhay Majhi, 28, confessed to killing his son and wife and burying their bodies inside his house on Sunday night.

The police said the process of exhuming the bodies was in progress. Majhi and his wife, Padmabati, also had a four-year-old daughter.

Their daughter was asleep when the incident occurred and had no knowledge of it. After killing his wife and son, Majhi visited his in-laws' home with their daughter the following day and told them that his wife had an extra-marital affair and fled from their home.

He returned after leaving his daughter at his in-laws' house.

Bhadrak additional superintendent of police K.C. Parida said the accused had lost his right hand when working in a factory and there was severe marital discord between the couple.

"There was a quarrel on Sunday night. When the baby started crying around 1am, Majhi taunted his wife. After an altercation that turned physical, the baby died after hitting his head on a wall. Majhi blamed Padmanati for the death and strangulated her," Parida said.
